What makes Frenchies so great? They’re the perfect companion! They have the sweetest, funniest, and most unique personalities, they are known as the 'clown' dog. Our Frenchies keep us entertained all day.
They’re also perfect if you live in an apartment as they don’t require that much exercise. Frenchies can lay on the couch all day with you or go out to explore the great outdoors! They always want to be by your side.
How much are Purebred French Bulldogs?
A purebred French Bulldog puppy can set you back anywhere from $3,500 to $14,000+ dollars.
Be wary of puppies that have a price that is “too good to be true” or one that seems too high.
Some breeders may be either trying to get rid of a puppy with health issues that they haven’t mentioned or are marking up the price for “rare/exotic” colors.
Why are Purebred French Bulldogs so Expensive?
The high price is due to all the expenses needed for breeding a healthy french bulldog. To breed, they require artificial insemination which can run anywhere from $1,000 and can be up to $10,000 including stud fee and c-sections to give birth which costs breeders anywhere from $1,200 to $4,000+. Then you also have to add in the genetic (Animal Genetics) and Orthopedic Foundation (OFA) for Animals testing, progesterone testing, shipping semen, vitamin supplements, ultrasounds, xrays, high quality puppy food, fully vaccinated litters, microchipping, incubators, oxygen concentrators, kennel club registrations, driving to and from ALL appointments along with countless hours/nights tube feeding.
You know that saying “you get what you pay for”?
That certainly holds true when looking for a French Bulldog puppy; a high-quality, reputable breeder will conduct many tests to ensure your puppy is free of any preventable genetic health problems.
With that being said, just because you are paying a lot for your Frenchie doesn’t necessarily mean you are getting your value’s worth. Do your homework on the breeder, and get a feeling for yourself on whether it’s the right decision or not for you.
All I know is that my worst nightmare is falling in love with my new Frenchie puppy only to come to find out he/she has a serious illness that the breeder failed to disclose to me. And it HAS happened to me! I wouldn’t wish that on anybody!
How to find a reputable breeder.
French Bulldogs are the third most popular dog breed in Canada for 2024. Unfortunately with this sharp rise in popularity comes many greedy, irresponsible breeders and puppy mills. Many inexperienced breeders are often careless, mixing breeds and inbreeding to maximize their profits at the expense of the puppies’ health.
Purchasing your French Bulldog from a reputable breeder can minimize the risk of adopting a dog with genetic disorders like deafness, hip dysplasia, respiratory problems, and more. There are a few easy steps you can take in helping you find a reputable breeder.
1) Use 'Google search' to check out their credentials, google their name.
2) Check their reviews and ask for references from REAL people.
3) Look for breeders who will give you full disclosure on their 'breeder dogs'. Ask for registration documents.
Remember that just because a breeder has 100k subs on Instagram doesn't make them a good breeder. Just because they have a YouTube channel does not make them a better breeder. My question for them is, if you are spending all your time filming, editing and uploading content, who is taking care of the pups? I am not saying that most are shady, but just want you to be aware and do your 'due diligence' in finding the right breeder for YOU.
